One can stand next to the castle wall and hear the churning rumble emitting from the great deity within. The University of Michigan Health System conjures such visions. A graphic artist is a mere foot soldier of the first rank. An army of nurse sergeants, officer class doctors and high-ranking generals roam the halls of this great institution. I stood at attention, motionless, unnoticed, waiting for my opportunity to plunge myself between master and sword. The order came down the line. Draw! Draw! I unsheathed my mighty pencil and slashed idea after idea to weary paper.
The experience wasn't quite the way I imagined it would be. Working with Dr. Monica Myklebust, Director of the University of Michigan Integrative Medicine Clinical Services, I was part of a team led by Dr. Myklebust, tasked with creating "The Healing Foods Pyramid." Jenna Wunder, MPH, RD, a dietician for the University of Michigan was on hand to lend her expert advice. Among many decisions made in this project, the toughest were which fruits and vegetables to leave off the main pyramid. Eventually the value of all foods will be outlined on this web site.
